Summary Job Summary The Bursar's Office at CU Boulder welcomes applications for a Cash Management Technician! This position monitors daily cash activity in the main Boulder campus depository and ensures proper recording in the PeopleSoft (PS) Finance System via Campus Solutions Cashiering System (CU-SIS). This position receives, verifies and records cash receipts from campus units in accordance with campus accounting best practice and procedures. Provides customer service to students, parents, campus constituents and the public.

The Bursar’s Office is responsible for the management of key university financial resources and records and acts as a central collection point for university receipts.

Responsibilities What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Cash Management

• Assure proper recording of payments from cash, checks, wire transfers, ACH payments and advanced deposits in the bank.
• Create daily desktop deposit batches in Wells Fargo Bank Commercial Electronic Office of checks processed for electronic presentment; reconcile batch totals to CU-SIS cashier end of day totals.
• Sort, count, and log payments received in the mail and process in CU-SIS cashiering.
• Provide backup documentation for cashiering entries resulting in suspense.
• Identify and record desktop deposits electronically submitted outside the Bursar’s Office in the depository; create cash receipt forms and process in CU-SIS cashiering.
• Assess correctness of receipts and determine when they should be processed as gifts, 3rd party sponsorship, scholarships, etc.
• Exercise judgment in posting and placement of overpayments for refunding.
• Identify payer and recipient detail for Section 117 reporting for each international wire transfer received for bi-annual submission to the Campus Controller’s Office and Department of Education.
• Continuously improve and develop processes with departments with merchant card settlements in the depository.
• Record returned check receivable to departments and distribute legal copies for collection.

Customer Service

• Monitor and respond to central Office of Cash Management email and phone.
• Provides guidance on campus cash control policies and procedures.
• Accept, verify, and process departmental deposits in compliance with university and campus cash control policies and procedures.
• Accept, verify, and process student payments in-person.
• Cash handling duties include maintaining daily cash drawer for change orders, petty cash check cashing, making interim deposits and replenishment from the OCM change fund.
• Print authorized student refunds on demand.
• Acquire knowledge of student bills and payment application impacts.

Special Duties

• Manage scanning, data entry and reviewing of original, daily cash receipt forms for retention in the imaging system.
• Manage compliance with campus Records Retention & Disposition
• Complete required professional development opportunities and trainings.
• Review and revise standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with departments to meet key financial deadlines.

What We Can Offer

• The salary for this position is $49,848 annually.
• If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require

• Three (3) years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
• Appropriate education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
• Must be a Colorado resident to apply.

What You Will Need

• Cash handling experience.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; especially Excel and Outlook.

What We Would Like You To Have

• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Finance System or equivalent.
• Knowledge of higher education cashiering system or equivalent.
